Christmas is here!

It doesn't really feel much like Christmas but I suppose that is because there are so many other things grabbing my attention lately. The baby is causing more symptoms to rise.... definitely letting me know he/she is there! Hopefully it is not a predecessor to what will come in the next few weeks! I am at week 6 now (my prediction).

Sean's and my friend had their baby 2 months early. We went to the hospital last night to see them and we got to go into the NICU and see little Jacob. He is just so cute and an absolute miracle. It's a little difficult to imagine having a baby like that 8 months from now. While we were at the hospital visiting, we found out one of our friends was there getting a biopsy done for some lumps in the lymphnodes in his chest. It turns out he has lumps all over his body. The doctor was thinking it would be lymphoma but it turns out it is cancer. They are going to run more tests and find out what type of cancer and what stage. Please pray for Matt and his wife Stacie. Pray for wisdom for the doctors.

The baby at 5 weeks...

How your baby's growing: Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point, he's about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm — which will later form all of his organs and tissues. The neural tube — from which your baby's brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone will sprout — is starting to develop in the top layer, called the ectoderm. This layer will also give rise to his skin, hair, nails, mammary and sweat glands, and tooth enamel. His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.) The mesoderm will also form your baby's muscles, cartilage, bone, and subcutaneous (under skin) tissue. The third layer, or endoderm, will house his lungs, intestines, and rudimentary urinary system, as well as his thyroid, liver, and pancreas. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.

I'm so tired!!!

We announced that we are expecting to our families first. Then Sunday to our church family. Everyone is very excited! People are taking bets on if it will be a boy or a girl.

My first symptom was exhaustion. It has been especially hard because this past week I worked and then went to church Christmas musical rehearsal every night. This coming week will go back to a "normal" schedule and most days I will be able to come home from work a nap! Luckily, I have not had nausea and I hope it stays that way!! Poor Sean is sick with a very nasty head cold so he is having to stay away from me due to the baby and my acting and singing in the musical. I must stay well! He is miserable sleeping on the couch and keeping our distance. I pray he gets better quickly.

I am pregnant!

I still can't even completely take it all in.... Sean and I are pregnant! This morning, I went to the store and got a pregnancy test without Sean knowing (I told him I was going to the bank, which I did do!) and then came home and immediately took the test. It's positive?! I kept looking and looking. I grabbed the card I hid in the bookcase (waiting for this day) and handed it to Sean with the envelope beside it. I said "look at the card I got Adam and Angela" (our pregnant friends). On the outside it says "A tiny bundle on the way, so tender, sweet, and new... inside it reads "What a world of happiness you have ahead of you! Congradulations!" and I wrote under that "Sean, your going to be a daddy!" Sean looked at the card... not suspicious at all, opened it, and stared. He couldn't believe what he was reading was true. "Yes! Here's the test!". I took a second test to confirm. We are announcing it to our families tonight and most likely Sean will announce it to the church tomorrow!!!!!!
