I'm 36 weeks pregnant... starting month 9!
This is what one site says:
How your baby's growing: Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (
like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.)
Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "
external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.
Hailey's doc appointment:
This past Wednesday the doctor confirmed that Hailey is head down! He didn't say anything more besides that her heart beat was good. Starting this coming week I have to go every week until I deliver.
Sometimes Hailey is active... I think she spins on her head or something. But most of the time her movements are subtle but enough that I feel her and know she is okay.
Mom:
I'm doing good... poor husband though... I think he has had to live through a few pregzilla moments in the past week. Sorry! I sleep good for the most part and when I wake up generally, I can get back to sleep. Sometimes I wake up way early in the morning and decide to go head and stay up because just as I get into a nice sleep, my alarm clock will go off and I won't want to get up!
Funny Sean comments:
CANKLES!! Ah! I have them! And my fingers swelled up just enough that I couldn't fit my wedding bands on. It goes up and down. I showed Sean my cankles and he said "As long as they are gone by about 4 months after Hailey is born, I don't care." I'm like "What do you think this is? Fat?!" He said "I don't know!" I said laughed and said "This is swelling! It will go down after Hailey is born." (Will that excuse work for my butt too?)
I was packing the diaper bag tonight for the hospital and Sean came in and saw what was in it... diapers, swaddle blanket, 2 changes of clothes for Hailey, binky, etc. He said "What is all this stuff in here? I thought just diapers go in a diaper bag?" Lol! I said "No hun, it's everything you need for the baby while you are out of the house." Oh my! We're in for a doozie people!
